About This Course

Preparing food for sale in SFA-licensed food establishments are required to attend and pass Food Safety Course (FSC) Level 1.

On completion of this unit, participants will have the knowledge and skills in Food Safety and Hygiene and be able to apply them at the workplace.

These include: The course will cover the following lessons and five topics:

Topic 1: Practise good personal hygiene

Topic 2: Use safe ingredients

Topic 3: Handle food safely

Topic 4: Store food safely

Topic 5: Maintain cleanliness of equipment and premises

Training duration: 9:00 AM to 4:30 PM; Assessment duration: 4:30 PM to 6:00 PM.

 

What You’ll Learn 

To equip food handlers of both retail and non-retail food establishments with the knowledge and application skills to follow food safety and hygiene procedures and policies, as well as maintain the cleanliness and upkeep of premises.

Relevant Job Role(s)

Any person who is planning to handle and prepare food and beverage in SFA-licensed food establishment i.e. Kitchen Managers, Supervisors, Chefs, Chefs, Cooks, Kitchen Assistants.

 

Minimum Entry Requirement

Able to understand, read and write in basic English or Mandarin.

 

Attendance & Assessment

Kindly note that you are required to achieve a minimum of 75% attendance and be certified competent in all the assessment components.

Should you fail to meet the attendance/assessment requirements and/or terms and conditions of SSG’s funding, you will not be eligible for the course fee funding and will have to bear the full course fees.

  • Eligible Singapore Citizens can use their SkillsFuture Credit to offset course fee payable after funding.

Company Sponsored

  • Absentee Payroll Claimable: $4.50 per hour, capped at $100,000 per enterprise per calendar year.
  • Skills Future Enterprise Credit (SFEC) Grant: One-off $10,000 credit cover up 90% of out-of-pocket expenses.

  • UTAP Claimable: NTUC member enjoy 50% unfunded course fee support for up to $500 per year.
