The necessity for this course is underscored by Singapore’s strategic initiatives to position itself as a global leader in AI and to future-proof its workforce:

1. National AI Strategy 2.0: Singapore has unveiled an updated National AI Strategy, aiming to triple its AI workforce to 15,000 by training locals and hiring from overseas. This strategy focuses on nurturing talent, promoting a thriving AI industry, and sustaining it with world-leading infrastructure and research to ensure AI serves the public good.

2. Government Investment in AI Training: The government is investing over S$20 million to enhance AI practitioner training for students over three years. This includes increasing the number of AI-related SG Digital Scholarships for Singaporeans to pursue AI and related undergraduate, master’s, and PhD courses in top universities, and facilitating access to overseas internships in AI-related roles.

3. Industry Demand for AI Skills: The rise in AI adoption across various industries has led to a significant increase in demand for AI-related skills. For instance, 79% of employees in Singapore currently use generative AI as part of their job, up from 24% in 2023.

4. AI Integration in Business Operations: Companies in Singapore are increasingly integrating AI into their operations to enhance productivity and innovation. For example, Micron Technology is investing $7 billion to build an advanced chip packaging facility in Singapore, aiming to cater to the booming demand for AI chips.

These developments highlight a critical need for professionals equipped with AI and ICT skills to support Singapore’s economic growth and technological advancement. This course is designed to address this need by providing targeted learners with the necessary knowledge and competencies to thrive in an AI-driven economy.

Training durations: Day 1 – 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM; Day 2 – 8:30 AM to 3:00 PM. Assessment duration: 3:00 PM to 4:45 PM.

What You’ll Learn

After training, learners will be able to:

LO1: Apply foundational AI concepts and deploy AI applications within the Azure ecosystem.

LO2: Implement AI-powered language, speech, and vision processing using Azure Cognitive Services.

LO3: Apply data preparation techniques to ensure data interoperability and cleanliness for AI solutions.

LO4: Deploy, maintain, and troubleshoot AI-powered chatbots and conversational agents using Azure AI.

LO5: Implement AI-powered personalization and recommendation models to support decision-making.

Minimum Entry Requirement

Knowledge and Skills

a. Able to operate using computer functions with minimum Computer Literacy Level 2 based on ICAS Computer Skills Assessment Framework

b. Minimum 3 GCE ‘O’ Levels Passes including English or WPL Level 5 (Average of Reading, Listening, Speaking & Writing Scores)

Experience

a. Minimum of 1 year of working experience.

Attendance & Assessment

Kindly note that you are required to achieve a minimum of 75% attendance and be certified competent in all the assessment components.

Should you fail to meet the attendance/assessment requirements and/or terms and conditions of SSG’s funding, you will not be eligible for the course fee funding and will have to bear the full course fees.
